After a stroke or other life-changing events, you may question your faith and you may ask: Why me? Why Us? Are we being punished?
We hope this card and note finds you having a wonderful holiday season. This is a great time to reflect and be thankful for what we have. Clearly, Christmas 2007 will be more enjoyable than last year for the Knutsons with Barb’s stroke recovery over the last twelve months. We still have a way to go, yet the family has adjusted well. We are so appreciative of the overwhelming support and care that we have experienced.
For a quick status on Barb: She is still making very good progress on all fronts doing physical, occupational and speech therapy on a daily basis. Barbie walks with a cane that we hope to lose down the road. Her vocabulary is a challenge, yet is expanding to two- and three-word phrases.
Regardless, Barb’s memory, recognition and reading comprehension are good. Her right arm is weak but comfortable, showing some grip and flexion at this point. Further, she/we are committed to another year of out-patient therapy to maximize our opportunities for the future.
With all of this, The B’s are finding enjoyment and quality in our daily lives. We are so blessed as a family and with friends like you.
LOVE-
Barb, Bruce, Britt, Brandon & Bianca
Dear Friends & Family;
We hope this letter finds you and yours having a prosperous 2007. First, Barb and I would like to genuinely thank you for all the support, prayers, cards, flowers, gifts and dinners that you have been so generous in providing our family.
For those who don’t know, Dec. 21, 2006, was a tough day. Barbie had a severe stroke that seriously affected her right side and her speech. That’s the bad news.
The good news is, she has made tremendous progress over the last few months learning to walk and talk again. Barb, being a physical therapist, has embraced her therapy which she does daily and will continue for all of 2007 and beyond.
Our focus for the future is extremely positive. We are so very blessed with what we have as a family. Through all of this, the Knutsons know that we will be stronger in the end. We are all learning disciplines and patience that enable us to deal with all aspects of this situation.
Brandon and Britt are both at college, playing solid golf and achieving good grades at their respective universities. We are very proud of their achievements and the successes that Barb has had with her recovery.
Again, thank you so much, you are very special to the Knutson family. God Bless!
Love,
Barb & Bruce
