Gods Will

After a stroke or other life-changing events, you may question your faith and you may ask: Why me? Why Us? Are we being punished?

Barb's Story

Chapter VIII: Planes, Trains and Automobiles

We have always loved to travel. Never assume that stoke will limit these great opportunities to enjoy God's beauty, friends and family. In spite of Barb's stroke disabilities, she has learned to travel well. Airlines are surprisingly accommodating. Fortunately, Barb manages airplane steps and aisles extremely well negotiating her way in and out using her cane.

Long walks in the airport normally require a wheelchair. As a backup, we to use a light (10 pounds) transport chair that we pull out of the trunk periodically. Recently, on our trip to Florida we used it for art fairs and boardwalks along the beach.

While traveling we always carry what is called a "vital bag" as a backup. This is filled with everything from Barb’s medication, hand splints, sunscreen, and so on. This vital bag will always have our handicapped parking pass, a wonderful aid when shopping and dining out.

With a stroke, enjoying life is not over ... just different. Have fun!
